English Cocker Spaniel Temperament

Personality, and Breed Guide

English Cocker Spaniel Temperament

The English Cocker Spaniel temperament is second to none! Happy, friendly and enthusiastic – they’re great with families and children and have an easy going personality that loves to be active. It is no wonder they are in the top ten of the UK’s  Most Popular Dog Breeds.

They are not a dominant breed being typically willing and obedient  with a good ability to learn. The English Cocker Spaniel  is an excellent companion dog, rarely dog aggressive especially if socialized properly , and typically very good with cats and other pets, again especially so if raised with them or socialized early.

Though eager to please, they can be a little wilful in training and if allowed, may become over possessive with toys. Early reminders teach them to share and that people rule rule the household not Cocker Spaniels.

The Ideal English Cocker owner is active, strong willed and sociable who enjoys energetic walks, playing and training.

Not recommend for weak willed owners or people with allergies.
