Personality, and Breed Guide

Australian Terrier Temperament

Like the popular image of your average two legged  Aussie, the Australian  Terrier is an easy-going and happy-go-lucky dog that loves the company of others, they are entertaining pets with tremendous affection and loyalty towards their families.

This little dog adapts well to most environments from small apartments to a large house and will happily live in even quite confined spaces, though you will have to provide a great deal of entertainment and scheduled walking to keep them from becoming destructive. They are happiest when they have at least a small yard to play in and patrol.

Despite their size though they are courageous and bold, willing to take on any foe regardless of size, they will kill/chase small pets and may attack cats unless raised with them.

Not for novelty or decoration, this dog was bred for working and the Australian Terrier’s temperament is such that they will make a spirited companion in almost any activity.

They are eager to please and are one of the more obedient terriers to train, especially if the owner is in tune with them.
