The typical American Eskimo Dog personality is bright, eager to please, busy and fun-loving, but also independent and tenacious.
They are the most biddable of the spitz breeds, and, like all spitz love cold weather.Eski’s make very good companion dogs for individuals and families alike.
The American Eskimo dog temperament is very people orientated, they crave affection and companionship , and if they don’t get enough of either then they can get into all sorts of mischief or engage in destructive behaviour.
Eski’s that are well loved, well exercised and well trained are the perfect companions, loyal to a fault and will strive to please their owners. They might need to be kept in line from time to time but on the whole their temperament makes this an ideal breed for the novice dog owner.
Ideal Eskimo Owners are active, patient and calm who have plenty of time for grooming , play and activity with their dog.
Not recommended for absent owners, lazy trainers or small unruly children.
